Grow, Sell & Eat Local!

Downtown Steamboat Springs is the heart of an authentic northwestern Colorado community where ranchers, skiers and artists all sit at the same table. Long before Steamboat Springs became an international skiing destination, it was a hard working ranching community with “regular folks” looking for a good life in a beautiful place. Downtown grew up on the banks of the Yampa River, offering the products and services necessary to keep the new town alive. Once the railroad came to Steamboat Springs in 1906, tourism became a major economic driver for the community. Fast forward to today. Downtown Steamboat Springs is still the heart of the community. This is where our history lies. From 3rd to 13th Streets, and from the Yampa River to Oak Street, we have shops and restaurants, art galleries and spas, professionals and services, government buildings, museums and public spaces. Downtown is the home of Howelsen Hill, our largest publicly-owned recreational complex, housing the oldest ski complex in Colorado, a rodeo arena, an Olympic-sized indoor skating rink, an alpine slide, and acres of biking, hiking and cross-country skiing trails, all within walking distance of downtown. MainStreet Steamboat Springs, the organization, is a volunteer-driven membership organization with the mission to preserve, promote and enhance downtown Steamboat Springs.
