Eden Place Community Farmers Market
Eden Place is an urban oasis and a nature preserve that seeks to introduce the Chicago community to food production and environmental education. Founded in 1997 by Michael Howard, a Fuller Park resident, Eden Place has evolved from an illegal dumpsite to a vibrant environmental learning center offering classes and programs to the surrounding community. In May 2004, Eden Place was honored by the Environmental Protection Agency with the Conservation and Native Landscaping Award; recognizing creative use of native plants and animals that contribute to the region’s biodiversity. To date, over 20,000 youth have been exposed to skills ranging from urban agriculture to small business development.
