Mount Carroll is the county seat of Carroll County, a rural county located in the northwest corner of Illinois. Just west of the playhouse you will find a beautifully developed campground where you can bring your camper, tent or rent one of their furnished log cabins. The Mississippi River and Palisades State Park, offering access to a variety of water sports and camping, is also an easy 15-minute drive away. We are centrally located so you can travel an hour in any direction and access cultural, sports and civic events offered in larger metropolitan areas, such as Rockford, Illinois, Dubuque, Iowa, and the Quad Cities of Illinois and Iowa.
