New Lenox Farmers Market
The Village of New Lenox works hard to promote economic development in the Village. An Economic Development Commission has been established to promote the advantages of doing business in the Village. The EDC is also working on developing an Economic Development Plan to help the Village attract business to the community. One of the Village's advantages is access to transportation networks. Drivers have easy access to U.S. Route 30 and I-80, which provides connections with I-57 to the east and I-55 to the west. With I-355 ending in New Lenox, drivers have access to the North-South Tollway, serving the western and northwestern Chicago Suburbs. Drive time to the Loop is a 55 minute commute. Midway and O'Hare Airports are 35 and 45 minutes, respectively. Rail commuters use the Metra/Rock Island District and travel time to the Loop is about an hour from the New Lenox Metra Station. Pace bus route #506 provides service between Joliet and the New Lenox Metra Station. New Lenox also has one of the lowest tax rates in Will County (7.3750% per $100 assessed valuation). Over the past several years, the Village tax rate has steadily decreased creating an opportune climate for business expansion and development. The Village also has a large amount of vacant property for development. Sewer and water capacity is available for new construction. Fiber optic phone lines are in place to handle the most sophisticated communications networks. Finally, the community has a highly skilled and motivated labor force. Several universities and community colleges are within easy commuting distance to train workers for specific skills. With all of these advantages, it is easy to see why New Lenox is a logical place to operate your business.
