The Lexington Farmers' Market
The Lexington Farmers' Market, as we are known to our customers, has developed into a five day per week market during the season. Our normal outdoor season is mid-April until late November, but we operate year-round from December to mid-April in Victorian Square Plaza. We currently have more than 75 paid members. Many of these farmers only come to the market during the season for their specialties, such as sweet corn or tomatoes, but others come year round with value added or expanded product lines. In 2005, the LFM launched a new Sunday satellite market on Southland Dr. It instantly became a big hit with customers. In 2006, the LFM did a feasibility study of a permanent market location. The site selected by the study was the Tues/Thurs location on the corner of Maxwell/Broadway. Since our study was issued, new plans reveal that the site may be used for a sports arena in the future. Since 2010, the LFM's Saturday market is now located in the Fifth Third Bank Pavilion which provides the following: Permanent site for downtown market Pavilion market with roof Electricity available to the farmers Clean water available to the farmers Better parking Handicapped accessibility Beautifully landscaped Demonstration area for cooking/gardening Place for customers to eat Benches for customers to rest Room for educational and entertainment programs
