Lancaster/Johnny Appleseed
Massachusetts is known for its Irish heritage and nothing celebrates the Irish more than St. Patrick's Day! We in Johnny Appleseed Country have many events commemorating the Saint that, according to legend, scared all the snakes out of Ireland. First up is the 37th Annual Leprechaun Convention at the Clinton Town Hall at 12:30pm on Saturday, March 16. The Leprechaun parade, in which all are urged to participate, steps off from the Elks Lodge on School Street at noon. Bagpipers, live Irish music of "Mulligan Stew", Irish stepdancers, Irish Soda Bread contest (all entries must be delivered to Town Hall between 10am and noon), and brilliant blarney will be in order. Seventeen (17) shillelagh awards will be awarded, "Money Bush" raffle tickets will be available @ $2 each/ 3 for $5 to benefit the Leprechaun Society and the Wee-People Fund which assists young children in domestic crisis.
