Grow, Sell & Eat Local!

In 1919 a small group of men gathered together with an ambitious scheme; to start a bank in Wyola, MT that would provide the farmers and ranchers with a reliable bank to support their community and take care of their customers. Soon the word spread that not only would the folks at Little Horn State Bank listen to their customers' needs, they would work with them whenever possible. Commitment to the community was the principle that the Bank was founded on, and still is the one we stand by today. The bankers at Little Horn knew that in order to make it in the rough world of commercial banking, they would have to sink their roots deep into the community. This strategy served them well as the Roaring Twenties gave way to the Thirties and the Great Depression. During that decade many banks collapsed, unable to hold fast in those tough times, while Little Horn State Bank held firm and was able to aid many struggling farmers. This strategy was to stay the same over the following years, through the tough economic times that plagued the country during WWII, and through the fifties, when the baby boomers were born. Little Horn's clientele grew to include customers from many counties in Montana as well as from the state of Wyoming. In 1966 Little Horn State Bank moved from its home in Wyola to 317 North Custer, Hardin, the county seat. In 1997, Little Horn State Bank opened up a branch in Lockwood. In 2002, a third branch was established at 2209 Central Avenue, Billings Mt. In May of 2007 construction was completed on a new building at 835 North Center, Hardin, Mt to enhance the bank’s presence in its loyal community. The new building was designed to capture the era of the old west with the well known wrought iron teller cages, wood banisters and board walks of yesteryears. Little Horn was founded on the values instilled by the farmers and ranchers of this community and prospered by the sweat of their brows. In keeping with the old west tradition Little Horn not only preserves the old west, but preserves the integrity of banking. The focus remains on the community and your needs. In 2011 the Board of Directors made a decision to merge the existing branches and move to a new location to efficiently serve the Billings market. This future site will be located at 2930 Central Avenue with a grand opening in the fall of 2012.
