The Martinsville Uptown Revitalization Association is dedicated to the continued enhancement of the Uptown central business district. By the promotion of a variety of special programs - design assistance, special events and economic development activities - Martinsville Uptown will continue to lead the way to improvement of the business climate and continued economic growth. Partners of Martinsville Uptown Revitalization Association help to ensure the economic future of Uptown Martinsville. Money raised through membership dues is vital to our organization and is used to support the operations of MURA. As a private/public partnership, MURA relies on the City of Martinsville, as well as local citizens and corporations for its vitality. Martinsville Uptown is a Designated Main Street Community of Virginia Main Street and the National Main Street program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Like thousands of communities across the country Martinsville Uptown has adopted the Virginia Main Street ApproachTM. The Virginia Main Street Approach TM provides a flexible framework that puts the traditional assets of downtown, such as unique architecture and locally-owned businesses, to work as a catalyst for economic growth and community pride.
