The best food is fresh, local, and sustainably grown, and the Poulsbo Farmers Market is without a doubt home to some of the best food in Kitsap County. This seasonal market pulls in farmers, bakers, chefs, and artisans from across Poulsbo and the surrounding area, all with the mission to provide the best food, hand-crafted products, and sense of community that Kitsap has to offer. Some fun facts: The PFM was launched in 2004 with fewer than 10 vendors. Today, the market averages over 50 vendors at every Saturday market during the spring, summer, and early fall. In 2011, the PFM extended its season from October to December and still averaged 20 vendors a week despite the colder weather! More than 30,000 customers are expected to visit the market in 2012. In both 2010 and 2011, Poulsbo was nominated by the Washington State Farmers Market Association as Large Farmers Market of the Year. Three's a charm! The PFM hosts regular events such as Children's Day/Touch-A-Tractor and our Health & Wellness Festival. Every week a local band plays live music at the market, including everything from country and the Blues to jazz, ragtime, and gypsy fiddle tunes. Smaller events include talks from visiting authors, chef demonstrations, and classes on subjects like preserving food, beekeeping, and gardening.
