Rochester, Washington is located between Olympia and Centralia and west of I-5 on route 12. The nearest airport is the SeaTac/Seattle airport north of Rochester and is 74.42 miles and takes 1 hour and 24 minutes. Rochester was founded in 1852 by Samuel James and Robert Paton opened the first market in 1889. Rochester became a large producer of strawberries when the lumber mills began to slow down. Rochester is a small town, but it is a fun place to go for a scenic country drive where you can drive through plenty of Washington State's Evergreen trees. While on your drive you can stop at the Subway, Dairy Queen, McDonalds, Quiznos, Grill at Ground Mound, Highway Diner, or Eagan's Quick Stop along Hwy 12.
